VTG Rare Barbie Pregnant Midge, Happy Family 3-In-1 Playset 2002 Mattel #56663 NIB

  Listing is for Vintage Happy Family Playset -©2002 Mattel # 56663 - Ages 3+
  including pregnant Midge, who is a friend to Barbie, 3-in-1 crib, diapers changing table and cradle, and new born baby accessories. There is a baby,wrapping in soft creamy white, laying on the pink crib,with sign “It’s a girl.
  
  Midge is wearing purple flower knee line high pregnancy dress, long reddish blonde braided hair, pink studs earrings, blue hazel eyes color ,pink lipstick and purple open toes wedges sandals shoes.
  
  When this set first came out, Some parents advocate does not consider pregnant Midge as educational as Mattel was hoping to send message across. In stead, those parents complained that the pregnant Midge doll was inappropriate for children to play, sending the wrong message, that pregnant Midge promoted teen pregnancy. Because of that controversial issue, Mattel pulled out Happy Family playset line from the market shelf. But ToysRus continued to sell until they were out of stock.
  To save a product line, Mattel recreated Midge in 2003, with a ring and without the baby bump along with grandparents and accessories. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out. All together, all playsets for happy family line was short-lived. As always the controversial Mattel Happy Family lines are still sought after,leading to be rare and collectible line.
  
  Dimensions: Box is L12 3/4” x W8 1/2” x D3”
  
  Condition: All contents are mint in the original box,with original factory sealed that has never been opened. As shown in last photo, dusty sticks on crease left after the pricing label was removed.
  The packaging box,showing each corner/edge wear,and separation along the top flapping and edges/corners.

  My parents,brothers and sisters escaped from Cambodia ,seeked rescue in Refugee camp in Thailand near Cambodian border 1979, while Khmer rouge resistances still fought with Vietnamese-Cambodian coalitions. On November, 1980, my whole family was brought to the United States by Lutheran Church. We had nothing started out. I helped with making ends meet during my high school
  years, by cleaning the houses of elderly church members.I was given used stuffs to bring home.
  In college, I worked for Antiques college mall. That was when I fall in love with antiques or Vintages at very early age. Even after making good income as software developer, I still do treasure hunting at Goldwills,salvation army,yard sale,auction ,antique shops etc
